✨15 years into my career … I was ready to go INDEPENDENT , How did I know ?

✨ I had a fully booked schedule at my existing Salon , and most of my clients had followed me from previous salons

✨I was looking to have autonomy over my bookings , in order to tailor each service to perfection and have flexibility with my free time

✨ I had conquered any fears I had with corrective colour techniques, and knew how to gracefully turn down services I felt weren’t in alignment with my fortes ( I also had a support system in place for when I needed second opinions )

✨I was making enough to cover all of my expenses and make a larger profit

✨ I wanted to be able to use/ bring in specific products and colour lines

I am now the owner of REBEL SOUL Studio in the beaches of Toronto, and LOVE my freedom and Independence 🫶 @rebel.soul.studio

Throughout my 17 years as a hairstylist, I’ve used many of the same foundational hair prep techniques to build my looks, and have tailored a unique flow in designing each silhouette for clients, artists and designers…

I LOVED being able to share these techniques using all of the ELECTRIC LONDON products and letting creativity flow to the max, which is what these products do best ⚡️

Two seasons ago, I resigned from my position of 8 years as the Creative Hair Director at FASHION ART TORONTO … It was time for change, and it was evident that Dylan Cruikshank was ready to take the lead !

It was an absolute BLESSING to have the opportunity to be back with my fam, and do hair for my girl, ANNA SOFIA @annasofia on Sunday before just slaying the runway for the @brandonkeir Fashion show…

Just because we forwards from a role, it doesn’t mean we need let go of all of the incredible friendships , connection, love and growth that was experienced during that time… and being back at FAT this weekend with soooo many incredible humans reminded me of that, filling my heart with goodness !

Thank you to the community that has always felt like family… and that fuels the fashion industry season after season 🙌

However with every conversation and interaction we have, we bind a little energy tether, and they add up throughout the days, weeks, and months, and can lead to us feeling heavy and drained ….

We can use something as simple as visualization to cleanse , Ground + Protect our energy daily to keep our energy feeling clear, light, and maintain our own essence !

The lighter, calmer, and more grounded we are, the easier it is to be in an optimized state of CREATIVE flow …

When I was a little girl … my FAVOURITE Book was

When I was a little girl … my FAVOURITE Book was called Nellie Lous Hairdos 🌟

Nellie Lous mom was a salon owner and had to step out for the day, leaving Nellie Lou to take over ! 😆

She created the most creative hairstyles on the clients and my poor babysitters were on the other end of this inspiration for me 😋

I went on to become a Hairstylist in 2006 , and was always a “ YES GIRL “ but became more of a please disease ….

After 15 years behind the chair , when my schedule was fully booked, I would come early, stay late, and work on weekends to accommodate everyone and people have always called me a busy bee 🐝

With many other factors at play, I was burnt out…

It took time to look within and recognize what I needed to put in place to support the balance I needed to be my best self 🫶

It was INCREDIBLE receiving the opportunity to re-create this beehive at the LIVE WITH EVENT at Eikonic academy in celebration of the self connection and healing it took to get back to what I loved doing so much….

Even busy bees need rest…. and it’s that balance, space and flow we need to harness our deepest realms of creativity 🌟
